Spring Chicken
ABOUT
Spring is here, and it's time to migrate down from the mountains to the valley (you know, like chickens do). Get to the temperate base of the mountain to win, but be sure not to leave your egg behind! As parent and child, you two have a joined fate.
Spring Chicken was made by me (Oliver Morrish) in 48 hours as a submission for the GMTK Game Jam 2021.
CONTROLS

I don't understand the purpose of having lives, I would bet this is the reason most don't beat this game considering it's from a jam. I can really appreciate seeing proper physics for a platformer, although I didn't appreciate ice physics on single tile blocks as early as Level 3 (a big difficulty spike imo). Cute pixel art and story for a jam game, I liked this overall

This game is amazing! I hate (love) the slippery ice, the main mechanic is well made and the art is lovely!

The game has a limited number of lives. There are few if any times that's a good idea. This isn't one of them. The levels aren't very fun the second time through, and if you want to play them again there's nothing stopping you. Forcing players to play again doesn't help anyone.

Amazing little game, lovely to play! I was able to reach level 7 but lost multiple times in the last 2 jumps. Had a great time with it, congratulations!
Honestly, I mostly just wish it had wasd controls. It's so unintuitive for me, using the arrow keys :|

The life system is a bit punishing. For a jam game it'd be better not to start at the start every time. Other than that, your game is beautiful and fun to play.
